Welcome back to “Reviews inside tv.” Today, we’re looking at a product that could be a game-changer in your kitchen: the Dash Flip & Fryâ„¢ Digital 2-in-1 Grill + Air Fryer. A product that promises the convenience of two kitchen appliances in one, but does it deliver? Let’s find out.
This clever 2-in-1 countertop cooker can seamlessly transition between an air fryer and an indoor grill, thanks to its 180-degree flip mechanism. On the air fryer side, it offers a 3-quart capacity, enough to cook up a batch of fries, vegetables, or wings. If grilling is more your style, the removable grill plate can fit up to four burgers or three chicken breasts at a time. It features three distinct temperature settings to ensure a perfect sear every time, even in the middle of winter when firing up the barbecue might not be an option. The air fryer mode gives you full control over time and temperature, reaching up to 400°F, so you can get crispy results without the guilt of using oil. And for those of you who dread cleanup, the nonstick ceramic grill plate and crisper tray are dishwasher safe. But what does all this mean in real-world use?
Let’s talk about setup and usage. The Dash Flip & Fry™ is incredibly easy to get started with. The flip mechanism is smooth, and the appliance feels sturdy. There’s a simple digital display with clear buttons to adjust the time and temperature, whether you’re air frying or grilling. I tested it by making some crispy fries, wings, and grilled chicken breasts, all of which turned out pretty much as expected—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. I’ll be honest, the flip feature is pretty neat, especially if you’re low on counter space and need to switch between functions quickly. It’s not just a gimmick; it makes the transition from grilling to air frying incredibly simple.
Now, onto the performance. When it comes to air frying, the Dash Flip & Fry™ performs as expected. It crisps up food well, and I appreciate the level of control it gives you with time and temperature. The 3-quart capacity is just right for a couple of servings, but for larger families, you might find yourself needing to cook in batches. It’s great for making small portions of crispy snacks or meals but can feel a bit tight if you’re cooking for a crowd. The grill mode is similarly effective. While it may not match the power of an outdoor gas grill, the 3 temperature settings do give you flexibility, and the results were impressive for an indoor unit. Grilled chicken was cooked evenly with a nice sear on the outside. However, the grill plate does require a bit of attention during the cooking process, as some areas of the grill can cook slightly unevenly, especially with thicker cuts of meat.
Moving on to the pros and cons, let’s start with the good stuff. First, the versatility. The ability to flip between an air fryer and a grill without needing multiple devices is a huge plus, especially for people with limited kitchen space. The nonstick ceramic grill plate and crisper tray make cleaning a breeze, which is always a win in my book. Performance-wise, both the air fryer and grill modes work well, offering solid results that will satisfy most home cooks. The 3-quart capacity is a nice sweet spot for small to medium-sized portions, which is ideal for smaller households or single cooks.
But, of course, there are a few trade-offs. The biggest downside might be that the 3-quart capacity limits how much you can cook at once. If you’re hosting a gathering, you might need to do multiple batches, which could be a dealbreaker for some. The grill plate also doesn’t offer the same level of even cooking as more expensive, dedicated indoor grills. While I didn’t have major issues, some people might find certain spots getting hotter than others, leading to uneven grilling. The build quality feels solid overall, but the plastic components don’t feel as premium as I’d like, especially when compared to some higher-end kitchen appliances.
As for value, the Dash Flip & Fry™ falls into an affordable price range for the features it offers. Compared to standalone air fryers or indoor grills, this product offers good versatility for the price. Standalone air fryers or grills from competitors like Ninja or Cuisinart can run a bit higher, but they often lack the 2-in-1 functionality. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option that can handle both tasks reasonably well, this could be a solid pick. However, if you’re someone who grills a lot and wants a flawless grilling experience indoors, you might find the Dash unit lacking compared to some of its specialized competitors.
Let’s compare it briefly to similar products. The Ninja Foodi Grill is a popular competitor that offers a similar indoor grilling and air frying combo. While the Ninja is a bit larger and more powerful, the Dash Flip & Fryâ„¢ does the job for a fraction of the price. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, the Ninja offers better overall grilling power, but for those who don’t need the absolute best and just want convenience, the Dash might be a better value.
Build quality-wise, the Dash Flip & Fryâ„¢ feels sturdy for its size. The removable plates are a nice touch, and the nonstick ceramic coating seems durable, but the overall feel of the plastic body leaves a little to be desired. It’s lightweight and compact, which makes it easy to move around, but if you’re looking for something that feels heavy-duty, this might not be it. As for long-term reliability, while there aren’t widespread reports of issues, the plastic components might wear down faster with frequent use compared to metal alternatives.
Now, customer support. I didn’t need to contact Dash for any issues during my testing, so I can’t speak to their service firsthand. That said, Dash has a generally positive reputation for customer service, and many users report quick responses and assistance with minor issues. If something does go wrong, you’re likely to have a decent experience if you need to reach out.
There are no updates relevant to this product, as it’s not reliant on firmware or software for performance.
To wrap things up, the Dash Flip & Fry™ Digital 2-in-1 Grill + Air Fryer does what it sets out to do—provide an efficient, versatile cooking experience in one compact appliance. The air fryer works well, and the grill mode delivers satisfactory results, especially for a budget-friendly option. The biggest drawback is the limited capacity, which may not be ideal for larger households or big meals. Still, for smaller kitchens or those who want a convenient solution for everyday cooking, it’s a solid option. Just be mindful of its limitations, and you’ll get great use out of it.
