It promises hands-free, pet-friendly cleaning with mop-lift for carpet and a compact base station—sounds intuitive and powerful.
Setup was a mixed bag. Unboxing? Easy enough—pop in the water tank and dust bin, give it juice. But mapping through the app felt like taming a feral beast. I ran mapping attempts multiple times before it nailed the layout. Once settled, scheduling and voice control (Alexa/Siri) became smooth sailing.
In daily use, vacuuming is solid. It handles dust, hair, cereal bits—you name it—with zero tangles, even during long-haired chaos. That “anti-tangle” brush really delivers. The battery runs for over four hours, and it auto-docks like clockwork.
Mopping…meh. It applies 6 N downward pressure and with the high humidity setting, it does lift light grime. But for dried-on stains, it’s underwhelming. You’ll notice streaks unless you babysit it, refill the 280 ml tank often, and maybe even do a second pass.
Navigation works most of the time, though it wanders unexpectedly. Ask it to clean one room and sometimes it takes itself elsewhere. Frustrating if you’re aiming for targeted cleaning. But in open-plan spaces, just set it loose and let it roam.
If you’re thinking, “Is it worth it?”—listen up. Build quality feels reassuringly solid; the compact base is a space-saver next to the bulky self-emptying docks of pricier bots. On value, priced around US $400, it undercuts similar mop/vac combos—Ecovacs N10 Plus adds self-empty but costs more—and it delivers better suction and hair-handling.
Compared to its sibling, the Freo X Ultra, you’re trading spinning mop pads, full auto-clean mop stations, and bigger water tanks for affordability. The Ultra is a beast if you want full automation—Freo X Plus is its lean, mean sibling with a few quirks.
So here’s my take: If you want efficient vacuuming, minimal maintenance hair-wise, and you don’t mind topping off water or tolerating a bit of wandering, the Freo X Plus gives solid bang for the buck. But if you need sparkling mops or flawless spot targeting, you might bump up to a higher-tier model.
