So, how do they perform in real-world use? Setting up the JBL Tune Buds 2 is a breeze. As with most true wireless earbuds, all you have to do is pop them in your ears and pair them via Bluetooth. I was up and running in just a few seconds. The sound quality is what you would expect from JBL – rich and deep, with a noticeable bass boost, especially when listening to music or watching movies. Gaming was also a solid experience. I noticed that JBL’s Spatial Sound technology really elevated the immersion, making me feel like the action was all around me. The noise cancellation works really well in noisy environments, like on public transport or in a bustling office. Even with ANC on, it was impressive how much of the background noise was blocked out, yet I could still hear important sounds when needed. The TalkThru feature was particularly handy during casual chats without pulling the earbuds out, and it didn’t sacrifice sound quality during conversations.
When it comes to calls, the six built-in mics do a great job capturing voice clarity, even outdoors with some wind. Despite this, the earbuds have an IP54 rating, which means they can handle some exposure to dust and water. That makes them durable enough for workouts, rain showers, or running around the city, though they probably wouldn’t survive a dive into a pool. Battery life is also excellent, and the fact that you get multiple charges from the case is a huge bonus.
