Welcome back to “Reviews inside tv!” Today, we’re checking out the Makita XLC02ZB 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum. This vacuum is built to cater to those who want efficient, on-the-go cleaning without being tethered to a wall. While it might not be the first choice for deep cleaning large spaces, its portability and powerful suction can make quick work of everyday messes. Let’s dive right into it.

This vacuum boasts a solid set of features. The most notable is the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery, which delivers up to 33 minutes of continuous use on a full charge. Now, that’s not a marathon, but it’s perfect for light-to-moderate cleaning sessions. If you’ve got a quick cleanup to do or need to spot clean, that’s enough time to get through the job without a recharge. But do note, the battery isn’t included in the package, so you’ll need to pick that up separately. This vacuum is designed to run off Makita’s LXT battery platform, so if you already own other Makita tools, you’re good to go.

The redesigned floor nozzle is another key improvement, offering better maneuverability and more efficient debris collection. If you’ve used a cordless vacuum with a clunky nozzle, you’ll immediately appreciate how smoothly this one moves around furniture and tight spaces. It’s ideal for cleaning both hard floors and low-pile carpets. Though, like many cordless vacuums, it does struggle a bit with high-pile carpets and larger messes.

Suction power is strong for its class, making it perfect for everyday dirt, dust, and debris. It does a solid job on hard floors, picking up fine dust and small particles, while the floor nozzle’s ability to pivot gives you good control on different surfaces. It’s not going to compete with heavy-duty vacuums when it comes to embedded dirt in carpets, but for light to moderate cleaning, it’s more than capable. One feature I found particularly helpful was the integrated LED battery charge level indicator. It gives you a clear view of when it’s time to recharge, so there’s no guessing when you’re running low.

The battery itself provides about 50% more runtime compared to the previous model, the BL1815, which means you’re getting more out of each charge. The recharge time is impressively fast too — you can go from empty to full in just 25 minutes, so it’s great for back-to-back cleaning sessions. But, as with all cordless models, battery life can dip if you’re working at max suction, so it’s something to keep in mind during longer cleaning tasks.

When it comes to usability, the Makita XLC02ZB is lightweight and easy to handle, weighing in at just over 3 pounds. This makes it an excellent option for people who need something that’s quick to grab and easy to maneuver, whether it’s cleaning stairs, upholstery, or getting under furniture. The compact design is also a plus if you’re tight on storage space, but don’t expect it to replace larger vacuums for whole-house cleaning.

One downside? Noise. While not unbearable, it’s definitely noticeable, especially for a cordless model. If you’re sensitive to sound or have pets or kids at home, this could be a consideration. It’s not excessively loud, but it’s definitely louder than I’d prefer for a handheld cordless vacuum.

So, what are the highs and lows? The Makita XLC02ZB is a great vacuum if you’re looking for a compact, highly maneuverable machine for quick jobs. It shines in areas like suction power, runtime, and ease of use. The floor nozzle redesign and battery charge indicator are clear standouts. However, it’s not the best choice for deep cleaning or larger areas, especially if you have thicker carpets. The lack of an included battery is another factor to keep in mind, as it increases the upfront cost.

When you look at the competition, there are other cordless vacuums in a similar price range that offer good value. For example, you might consider the Dyson V7 Motorhead, which offers more powerful suction but at a higher price point. It does have better overall performance on carpets and larger debris, but it also comes with a heftier design and price tag. Another option is the BLACK+DECKER 20V Max, which is a bit cheaper and comes with its own battery, but it sacrifices runtime and suction power, making it better for very light tasks.

As far as build quality goes, the Makita XLC02ZB feels solid and durable, thanks to its reliable Makita construction. The plastic materials are sturdy, and the nozzle and hose are easy to clean and maintain. The brush roll is user-friendly and does not tend to get clogged easily, which is a plus, especially if you have pets or long hair.

Regarding maintenance, the bin empties easily, and the filter is washable, which means no extra costs for replacement parts unless they wear out over time. It’s not entirely hassle-free — you’ll still need to clean the brush rolls and filters occasionally, but compared to some other cordless vacuums, this one’s relatively low-maintenance.

The Makita XLC02ZB delivers good value for the money, especially if you’re a homeowner with smaller spaces or someone who just needs a vacuum for quick daily tasks. Its strong suction, fast recharge time, and lightweight design make it a good choice for those who already own Makita tools and are looking to expand their cordless toolkit.

To wrap it up, this vacuum is a great buy for people who prioritize maneuverability, a quick charge time, and decent suction power. If you’re looking for something lightweight that won’t take up much space but still gets the job done, this could be the perfect option. However, if you have large spaces or need something more heavy-duty, you might want to look elsewhere.
